ECODESIGNS: DESIGNING THE POST-ANTHROPOCENE

Design e desígnio têm ambos origem no verbo latino designare — marcar de um modo distinto, traçar, definir, desenhar, pôr em ordem, revelar, — que, por sua vez, deriva do substantivo signum — sinal, marca, indício, sintoma, pegada, vestígio. Ambas as definições nos confirmam que, desde a origem, a palavra Design se situa como mediadora entre o inteligível e o sensível. Entre a arte e a técnica. Entre a estrutura e a poética, entre o homem e a natureza. Eco desígnios, significa desenhar soluções novas para os problemas climáticos, sociais e económicos que enfrentamos, nesta era geológica que provocamos: o Antropoceno.
Esta é uma exposição que pretende revelar as sinergias que o Design e a Arte conectam na difícil gestão entre os impactos que a materialidade gera nas sociedades e na natureza. As obras selecionadas e agrupadas pelos ecossistemas que as determinaram, conduzem o visitante numa narrativa contemporânea e agregadora dos desígnios éticos, ambientais e humanistas, que a produção e inovação do século XXI se propõem responder

Design and purpose both originate from the Latin verb designare — to mark in a distinct way, to trace, define, draw, arrange, reveal — which in turn derives from the noun signum — sign, mark, indication, symptom, trace, footprint. Both definitions confirm that, from its origin, the word Design occupies a position as a mediator between the intelligible and the sensible. Between art and technique. Between structure and poetics, between man and nature. Eco Desígnios, means designing new purposes and solutions for the climatic, social, and economic problems we face in this geological era we have created: the Anthropocene.
This exhibition seeks to reveal the synergies that Design connects in the complex management of the impacts that materiality generates on both Humanity and Nature. The selected works, grouped by the ecosystems that shaped them, guide the viewer through a contemporary narrative of Design as an agent of ethical, environmental, and humanist purposes that the production and innovation of the 21st century strive to address
